Learning is about being shown where to look, not to being told what to see.

I am a qualified and experienced secondary school teacher who has been teaching privately since 2004. My classroom experience means that I am accustomed to teaching students of varying abilities and learning requirements.

My passion for teaching, versus the peripheral workload entailed in in-school roles, inspired me to leave working in schools. I now focus my time on private tuition where I can enable progress faster and go back to what I love - teaching.

2004 – Present Private Tutor

2014 – 2017 Esher C of E High School

2013 – 2014 St Paul’s Catholic College

2012 – 2013 NQT Langley Grammar School

2005 - 2011 Adult Trainer & Project Manager

Each student I work with is an opportunity for me to understand specific learning needs and goals. This informs how I design and deliver learning content which means that each and every lesson is tailored.

The advantage of one-to-one tuition over being in a classroom is that I can pitch lessons for each individual. It also enables me to nurture positive relationships with my students so that a balanced approach can be taken in how lessons progress.

I always work in line with what is being taught at school and/or relevant exam board curriculum. This is coupled with finding ways to create ‘sticky learning, that is, making the lesson content memorable.
